THE LORD’S DAY

April 26, 2020

Call to Worship (Isaiah 12, Read Aloud)

You will say in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.

“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day:

“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.

“Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.
Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

Hymn of Adoration: “O God Beyond All Praising”

The Reading of the Word: Romans 5:1-11

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

God showed His love for us in this.  While we were sinners, Christ died for us.

In love He sent His only Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

While we were yet sinners,

His precious blood, his perfect love through faith we might receive.

In sacrifice, His righteousness, such grace to all who would believe.

No shame nor condemnation, for those in Jesus are now forgiven.

For He who spared not His own son and gave Him up for us to bear our own guilt.

His precious blood, his perfect love through faith we might receive.

In sacrifice, His righteousness, such grace to all who would believe.

Oh, such grace to all who would believe.  Amen.
